Cambridge City v Hitchin Town: Two form sides

Tuesday, February 21 2012

Hitchin will be up against one of the Southern League’s in-form sides when they travel to Milton Road, home of Cambridge City.

City have bounced back from a string of indifferent results in November and December – five defeats in seven -  to go unbeaten in eight games. They have won six and drawn two of their last eight. City’s problem is that they have won just two of six games against fellow promotion chasers. They have also failed to win five of their 14 home fixtures this season.

Hitchin are enjoying a good spell, unbeaten in five games and in their last four away trips. They beat Cambridge City 3-2 earlier in the campaign. The Canaries' last visit to Milton Road was in 2010-11 when the two sides drew 2-2 in the FA Cup.

Cambridge City have one of the best strikers in the league in Craig Hammond. He has scored six in his last seven games. Other to watch include wide man Danny Kelly, full back Ben Islam and returning midfielder Sam Ives. Goalkeeper Zac Barrett is one of the most coveted of custodians in the league. City’s manager, Gary Roberts, is an old favourite at Hitchin and a regular visitor to Top Field.

Hitchin are at full strength, with no injury worries.
