Hitchin Town FC U18's were drawn at home for their first game of the new season the Southern Counties Floodlit League this evening.
With a completely new squad, many of whom have come through the Hitchin Youth section, Topfield was buzzing and with almost perfect conditions the game started off fast from the whistle. Both teams had some good play but Hitchin Town looked stronger all over the pitch. The first 45 minutes saw chances missed by both sides after some fantastic goalkeeping, and the half time scoreline was a disappointing 0-0.
Hitchin Town came out strong and Dean Hardware smashed the ball into the bottom right corner in the 47th minute putting the home side in front. Enfield fought hard throughout, and were unlucky but James Holland (GK) was on top form and pulled off some great saves. A few changes were made and on the 76th minute Hitchin made a counter attack from the visitors corner which saw Ryan Adam bag a second goal.
The game was fast and throughout the 90 minutes Hitchin looked strong and composed. A good convincing win for the start of the season.
