Dunstable Town 0 Hitchin Town 3

New signings Chris Dillon and Carl Williams lit up Creasey Park for Hitchin on Tuesday night as Darren Salton's men easily beat a young Dunstable side.

Williams, who is in his third spell with the Canaries, scored a memorable goal on an evening more suited to cricket than football.

Salton was pleased with his team. "Everyone did well. We looked solid at the back, we worked hard and I am convinced that Chris Dillon and Carl Williams will be brilliant signings for us - both players will make us a better team."

Hitchin started with possibly their strongest eleven, with James Taylor, a summer trialist, playing at full back.

Dillon opened the scoring for Hitchin in his first appearance since rejoining the club, finishing off a move started by Williams. By half-time, Hitchin were two ahead thanks to Williams' first goal, scored after he ran onto a through ball.

The Canaries played some good football in the second half and changed two thirds of their team, including recent new signing Mark Bridge.

Williams scored the third with a piece of sublime improvisation, catching the goalkeeper off his line with a 45-yard free kick.
