Hitchin continued their good start to the new season with a workmanlike performance against the students of Team Bath.
In a game short on action, the Canaries were rarely troubled by Team Bath, who scored their only goal from the penalty spot.
Confident Hitchin opened the scoring after 18 minutes through Aaran Cavill, who netted after Daniel French’s shot had been parried by goalkeeper Darren Chitty.
Shortly afterwards, Thomas Hayes sent a shot into the side-netting.
In the 35th minute, Team Bath levelled when James Ayres handled in the area and Tomas Jaukovic sent his penalty low past Richard Wilmot.
Hitchin regained the lead after 62 minutes, French shooting home from six yards after his first shot had been blocked by Chitty.
Chris McMenamin went close to adding to Hitchin’s lead, gaining possession before sending a first-time shot that was well gathered by Chitty.
Team Bath’s only notable attempt came in the dying seconds, Nick Hudson just failing to connect with a corner.
Hitchin: Wilmot, Lamacrft, Ducket, McCulloch, Ayres, McMenamin (Lochhead 77), Cavill, Mills, Sozzo, Hayes (Hassan 85)
