Hitchin at last got something out of their trips to Bath with a well-deserved draw against a team that is surely in a false position at the bottom of the Southern League Premier Division.

Team Bath are one of the best footballing sides in the division, that was the general consensus among the small band of Hitchin fans that attended this game.

Hitchin's away form is taking shape - this was their seventh point from three awaydays. They could have taken an early lead when Mark Bridge struck the crossbar in the fifth minute after good work by Darran Hay.

Team Bath started to dominate and took the lead in the 40th minute, however, Owen Story sidestepping a challenge before shooting home inside the area. Hitchin could have gone in at half-time at least level, but Bridge just failed to connect with Rory Hutton's cross.

Bridge went close again in the early stages of the second half, but at the other end, Richard Wilmot had to be at his best to stop a free-header by Stefan Wojciechowski.

In the 63rd minute, however, Hitchin equaliser, Hay lobbing the goalkeeper after a long ball by Julian Old.

The Canaries finished the stronger side, and could have taken all three points.Josh Sozzo tried to get in a shot on the turn, but there was little power in his effort. And nine minutes from time, Hay could have done better with a downward header from Hutton's cross that was wide of the target.
