Hitchin put on a disappointing display at Dunstable, with the home side outbattling the Canaries young team. The portents were bad from the start, when an early soft goal exposed Hitchin’s defensive shortcomings.
That was in the third minute, but Chris Dillon levelled the scores after five minutes with a close range shot. Then, in the 36th minute, Adam Parker headed Hitchin in front after James Ayres had knocked on a corner.
But in the 41st minute, Dunstable regained the lead after Ryan Frater and James Ayres were involved in a mix-up at the back.
The home side’s winning goal came after 59 minutes when they netted from the penalty spot.
