On the day that China sent a man into space, Hitchin fielded a Chinese player for the first time in the club's history. Jamie Qui Min, a product of Hitchin's youth programme, played the final 17 minutes of this one-sided Herts Senior Cup tie.
Even with a weakened side, the Canaries were far too good for the Spartan South Midlands League outfit. By half-time, Hitchin were 5-0 ahead, a commanding lead that started with a fifth minute own goal, although Chris Dillon would like to have claimed it.
Chris Dillon (32nd and 38th minutes) and Adam Parker (30th and 45th minutes) netted two apiece in the first half, and went on to complete their hat-tricks in the second period.
Parker's treble was secured in the 47th minute when he headed home a cross by Carl Williams. Broxbourne pulled a goal back in the 52nd minute through Danny Ward.
With 15 minutes remaining, Kevin Evans set up Dillon, who also staked his claim to the matchball with a crisp finish. Nine minutes later, Ryan Nicholls scored Hitchin's eighth from close range.
Hitchin will play Royston Town in the next round.
