Hitchin began life after Matt Nolan with a three goal defeat at the hands of Ford United.
Early chances fell to the Canaries, with Carl Williams going close after Carl Drew’s good through ball, but his chance was blocked and the rebound was headed over by Adam Parker.
But in the 17th minute, a cross from Sam Cooper was headed home by Sam Cooper to put Ford in front.
It could have been 2-0 in the 28th minute when Glen Poole smashed a shot against the crossbar.
After the interval, Ford cemented their superiority when they broke clear and from a cross, Robbie Reinelt headed home their second goal in the 60th minute.
Hitchin responded with a Chris Dillon shot that was pushed for a corner. Then James Osborn struck a post and Dillon had another attempt which was well saved by goalkeeper Jamie Lunan.
Eight minutes from time, Mervyn Abraham netted from close range to add to Hitchin’s woes.
