Hitchin crashed out of a cup competition at the hands of junior opposition for the second time in three days, losing at goal-hungry Cheshunt in the Herts Charity Cup.
Hitchin were outclassed by the Ryman Division One North runaway leaders, and never looked like winning this tie, despite Mark Bridge striking the woodwork in the second minute.
It was former Hitchin defender Owen Coll who gave Cheshunt the lead with a header that easily beat Richard Wilmot in the 13th minute. Wilmot prevented further goals from the home side, notable when he saved a header by Leon Archer.
But in the 47th minute, Cheshunt went two goals up, Darrell Cox scoring with a free header. Seven minutes later, Cox scored again, netting from close range after a breakaway.
Hitchin: Wilmot, Childs, Hutton (Mead 62), Frater, Bone, Duffy, Mills, Maynard, Phelan (McElroy 66), Bridge, Coulson
