One of the most accomplished defenders in non-league football over the past 20 years. Mark is in his sixth spell with Hitchin after rejoining in the close season. He began his career in the mid-1990s and was originally a striker, before converting to defence under Stevenage manager Paul Fairclough. At Stevenage, he was a member of the team that won the Conference in 1996 and took Newcastle to two games in the FA Cup. He was also capped regularly by England at non-league level. Went on to play for Dagenham, Boreham Wood and returned to Stevenage before coming back to Hitchin in 2004. Returned to Hitchin once more in 2008 and moved to Cambridge City last season. A great character and a model "pro", Mark will be 42 in December. |
