Few players can claim to have come up against Luis Figo and the so-called Portuguese “Golden generation”, but that’s exactly what Ken Gillard did as a player. Ken was capped by Ireland in the Under-21 World Cup in the early 1990s. As a professional, Ken played for Luton Town and Northampton Town before joining Hitchin in 1994-95. He was a member of the team that beat Bristol Rovers in the 1995-96 FA Cup, but injuries blighted his career at Top Field. Returned just under two years ago to take on the number two job and the quick-talking Irishman has proved a popular figure at the club. |
