The aim of Hitchin Town Supporters Trust is to provide additional funding to support the wages of the playing staff of Hitchin Town Football Club.
Hitchin Town Supporters Trust shall act as an independent association, not directly affiliated to Hitchin Town Football Club or responsible to Hitchin Town Football Club financially, in policy or otherwise.
During May 2005 with Hitchin Town Football Club only able to offer the then manager a meagre budget to use towards players wages, a low key appeal was made to the supporters of the club for help.
That help arrived with the formation of Hitchin Town Supporters Trust. Supporters were invited to pledge their support to the trust with a guarantee that all monies donated would be used to offer the manager a players weekly wage budget on top of the budget offered to him by the club.
The response from the supporters was absolutely amazing and our appeals over the past three seasons have been a tremendous success.
Without the support of the trust it is unlikely the club would have won the Errea (Southern League) Cup in 2006, flaunted with play-off places for a period during last season and finished in mid table positions for the past two seasons.
Recently the trust committee met and discussed the current league position. The committee felt that whatever the outcome of this season, it was important for the trust to support the manager of Hitchin Town Football Club to enable him to field the strongest side possible. Therefore the trust and its aim's remain the same for the 2008/09 season.
Once again supporters can donate via one-off cash donations, quarterly cash instalments or weekly / monthly standing orders. Standing orders over 12 months / 52 weeks will commence in May whilst standing orders over 10 months / 40 weeks will commence in July. There is also an option on the standing order form to continue payments until further notice, this avoids the donor having to renew a standing order each season.
As per the last three seasons the Management Team will hold regular forums with trust members during the 2008/09 season. Again supporters donating to the trust will also be asked if they are happy to be listed in the match day programme. The trust will respect the wishes of those who would rather remain anonymous.
There is no minimum or maximum donation amount, every penny counts. The amount of any donation will remain private between the donor and the trust committee. All trust patrons are treated equally, irrespective of whether they are donating the smallest or the largest amount of money.
There is no 'pledge by' date (in fact we are hoping to continue to get pledges throughout the summer and next season) but we are hoping to give Darran an initial weekly figure by 31st May 2008 so he can start shopping for players, so if you are able to offer financial support, an early response would greatly help Darran.
