A day at the seaside for Canaries

Friday, April 16 2004

Hitchin's away programme comes to a close next Saturday when they make their longest journey of the season to Bognor Regis.

The Canaries' last trip to the seaside resort ended in disaster in the 1998-99 season. Hitchin were trounced 6-1 although they exacted some revenge on Bognor with a comprehensive 4-0 win at Top Field later in the campaign.

Bognor have had a respectable season in their first in the Premier for some years. In Kerry Dixon's first home game as Hitchin manager, Hitchin drew 2-2 with a young Bognor side in December 2003. Bognor were riding high at that stage and it is only in recent weeks that they have fallen down the table.

Prior to Saturday's game with Harrow, Bognor had not won for seven games, gaining just two points, but their potential has been highlighted this season in beating sides like Thurrock, Grays and Hayes.
