If Histon had got their way, they would be playing in the Isthmian League in 2004-05, but they find themselves on Hitchin's fixture list instead.
Histon had one eye on shifting over to the Isthmian League but were placed in the new-look Southern League Premier, which was basically a leg up for the Cambridgeshire side.
Chairman Gareth Baldwin commented: "I think it's fair to say we would rather be in the Isthmian. We sent a letter in requesting to be in the Isthmian, but it obviously fell on deaf ears."
An ambitious club that has risen up from Eastern Counties League football to last season finish runners up in the Eastern Division to Kings Lynn, Histon are also a free-scoring side.
They won a merit award from the Southern League for scoring an impressive 96 goals. "We like to think we are an attacking side, so it was nice to have it confirmed with an award that shows we were the highest scorers across all three divisions," said manager Steve Fallon.
Histon are already aiming high: "We want to finish in the top two," was the view of Chairman Baldwin.
