Hitchin travel to Maidenhead this weekend aware that they will be a facing a team high on confidence.
John Dreyer's side pulled off the shock of the round last Saturday in the FA Trophy, winning 2-0 at Conference side Halifax Town. The Magpies' goals were scored by Steve Hale and Lawrence Yaku.
Maidenhead's reward in the quarter-finals is an away tie at either Stalybridge or Canvey, so their minds may be on other things when the Canaries turn up at York Road.
Although comfortably-placed in mid-table, no mean feat considering the upheaval that took place at Maidenhead in the summer, the Magpies' form has been inconsistent in recent weeks. But their FA Trophy run has seen them defeat Histon, Wealdstone (conquerers of Hitchin) and Swindon Supermarine as well as Halifax.
Hitchin's recent record at York Road has been good, in 2000-01 the Canaries won 1-0, in 2001-02 the game ended all-square at 1-1, and last season, Hitchin won 2-1. Since then, however, both sides have undergone tremendous change. Earlier this season, in what proved to be Robbie O'Keefe's last game, the Canaries won 2-0 at Top Field.
