Hitchin manager Kerry Dixon is aiming for 51 points to keep the Canaries afloat this season and is confident of reaching that target.
Dixon's side crashed to its fourth consecutive defeat on Saturday when Sutton United left Top Field with a 4-2 victory.
Dixon says of his side: "We are building a side with one eye on next season. We have thrown in some youngsters and there may be more to come into the side. What we have is a side that is giving 100% at the moment and I will give them 100% backing, even when they are losing."
The former Chelsea and England striker believes that his team is getting cruelly punished for making errors while not taking full advantage when they are presented with chances. "This is where lack of experience gets exposed," he says.
Despite a slump in form Dixon is confident that Hitchin can keep clear of the bottom four. "If the restructuring of the leagues doesn't happen, we have to ensure we are not in the relegation zone. I believe that we have the ability and the determination to stay in this division."
