Canaries hope to avenge crushing defeat against Hendon

Second-placed Hendon arrive at Top Field on Saturday to give the Canaries another difficult hurdle as they bid to get out of a spiraling run of defeats.

Dave Anderson's side are making a strong argument for the runners-up spot, despite drawing 2-2 with Ford United on Tuesday night. But Hendon showed plenty of character in coming back from two-down against Ford, who visit Hitchin on March 6.

It took an 87th minute goal from former Stevenage winger Dwayne Plummer to Give Hendon a point. Ford had raced into a two-goal half-time lead before Eugene Ofori and finally Plummer made it two apiece.

Hendon's form is almost the opposite of Hitchin's. They have lost just once in six games and recently beat high-flying Carshalton 3-1 away from home. They have also gave Canvey a difficult game in January, losing by a single goal, no mean feat these days.

Hendon's side will include former Harrow hard man Jon-Barrie Bates, the talented Ricci Crace and full back Iain Duncan, who caught the eye a couple of years ago at Top Field. Dale Binns, who has always proved to be a difficult opponent for Hitchin, is currently on the bench.

Hitchin will be keen to gain revenge for a three-goal defeat at Claremont Road earlier this season.

The Canaries will include new signing Gavin Jaggard in the squad and there are hopes that Josh Sozzo will also be fit.
