Hitchin Town unveiled its plans for the future on Thursday night and put a strong emphasis on youth, greater commercial activity and a healthy focus on community development.

Manager Robbie O'Keefe revealed that the average age of his team this season will be around 22, possibly the youngest in the club's history.
O'Keefe is also pouring more resources and manpower into developing Hitchin's talented youngsters. A staggering 90% of the club's two reserve teams this season will come from Hitchin's cholarship scheme.

"Last season, we finished fourth in the Capital League with a team of youngsters, that's a remarkable achievement," said O'Keefe.

Hitchin's first team squad has 10 players who have come through the scholarship scheme, including the sought-after players like Matt Nolan, Ryan Frater and Steven Graham.

O'Keefe said that he has hired former Top Field favourite Richard Wilmot as goalkeeper coach to the scheme this season. Wilmot plays for the Canaries' Ryman League rivals St.Albans City.

Mark Burke outlined the club's community activities, while Steve Gear made an in-depth marketing presentation on Hitchin's refocused community department.

Barry Lesnick of Hitchin Town Ladies made a presentation of £500 to Hitchin Town FC.
