Hitchin manager Kerry Dixon believes that new signing Gordon Barr has made a strong case for making the right back position his own.
Barr signed for the Canaries this week after impressing the Hitchin management. "Gordon has looked good and his attitude is excellent. He's snapped up his chance and I'm sure he will be a big favourite at the club," said Dixon.
Barr has trained with Hitchin before but took time out of football after being released by Stevenage Borough. "He can do a good job for us and I'm delighted he's agreed to join the club," added Dixon.
The Hitchin boss is also pleased with the progress made by two goalkeepers currently trialling at Top Field. "Both Neil Cheek and Ian Taylor have done well, and we will be signing at least one of them." Richard Wilmot, the Canaries' first choice keeper, will miss the first few games, so Dixon is looking to one of the new custodians to fill his place at the start.
Overall, the mood in the Top Field camp is good, and Dixon feels this will be vital as the club's pre-season programme draws to a close. "Although we have limited resources, we have a good team spirit developing. I detect that things are buzzing a bit at the moment."
