Hitchin begin their Herts Senior Cup campaign with the aim of bringing the cup back to Top Field for the first time since 1997.

The Canaries play host to Spartan South Midlands League Tring Athletic and manager Darren Salton is fielding his strongest possible team.

“I said at the start of the season that I wanted to win this competition and nothing’s changed,” he says. “We have a good chance to win the Herts Senior Cup and we will take this competition as seriously as any other.”

Hitchin have a number of injuries, however, with both Liam Folds and Ryan Frater sidelined after Saturday’s win at Cheshunt. Josh Sozzo, who received a knock in that game is fit, however.

Tring, managed by former Hitchin players Mick Eldridge and Ray Brimson, are currently in 16th place in the Spartan South Midlands League.
