Hampton tie just the remedy, says Salton

Hitchin manager Darren Salton says the forthcoming FA Trophy tie at Hampton & Richmond is the ideal follow-up to the Canaries FA Cup exit.

Salton’s side are eager to bounce back following their penalty shoot-out defeat against Clevedon. “We’ve no time to be down in the dumps,” says Salton. “This game will enable us to pick ourselves up – it will get our adrenalin going again.”

Hitchin are without suspended Mark Ducket and Andy Ross, and fresh casualty Neil Pugh who was injured against Clevedon. But new signing Rob Miller is set to make his debut and youngster Scott Orphanou is also available.

Salton paid tribute to Clevedon for their performance at Top Field. “They were tremendous – their defence was superb and they battled away. It was a tremendous cup tie and we were desperately low after the game. Clevedon were also very humble in victory which says a lot for their attitude.”

Hampton, managed by former West Ham and England midfielder Alan Devonshire, are below mid-table in the Ryman Premier Division. They have suffered two heavy home defeats recently, 0-4 against Bromley and 2-5 at the hands of Boreham Wood.
