Canaries defend their 100% record against Linnets

Thursday, January 20 2005

Kings Lynn come to Top Field for the first time since the 1976-77 season with Hitchin hoping to complete their first double of the season.

Team News: Julian Old has left Hitchin to join Metropolitan Police, but Canaries' manager Darren Salton is expecting to sign James Ayres before Saturday's game. Mark Smith, who has missed the last three games, could return.

Current form: Kings Lynn were heavily beaten at Grantham last Saturday, making it one point from three games. Before that, they had won seven consecutive games, scoring 29 goals in the process. In midweek, they beat Grantham 4-0 in the league cup. They are in 12th place, one point behind Hitchin but a game in hand. Hitchin have lost their last two games, at Solihull (0-2) and East Thurrock (1-4).

Last six games:
Hitchin: L, W, L, W, L, D Kings Lynn L, D, L, W, W, W

Previous meetings: This season's game saw Hitchin win 2-1 at the Walks. In four games with the Linnets, Hitchin have not failed to win.

Men to watch: Danny Bloomfield has netted 16 goals this season, so Hitchin will have to look out for him.

Comment: "We made some bad mistakes against Solihull which cost us the game. We need to tighten up at the back and talk more to each other," says Darren Salton.
