Canaries try for third time to beat Team Bath

Wednesday, January 5 2005

Eleventh-place Hitchin take on the "students" of Team Bath, currently in 18th place in the Southern League Premier Division.

Team News: Hitchin have a spate of injuries, some of which may clear up before Saturday. Gordon Barr and Mark Smith, who both came off against Grantham, are struggling for full fitness. Paul Covington is also nursing a knock.

Current form: Team Bath beat Banbury on January 3, two days after losing the big Bath derby at Twerton Park. Last six games: Team Bath W, L, D, W, D, L Hitchin: L, W, L, D, W, L

Hitchin's home form has been disappointing this season, with just four wins in 12 games. Team Bath's three away wins have included a shock 2-0 success at Histon and victories at Solihull and Banbury.

Previous meetings: Hitchin have played Team Bath twice already this season, a 0-3 defeat in the FA Trophy and a 1-1 draw in the league.

Men to watch: With Hitchin tormenter Owen Story now departed, Stefan Wojciechowski and Tomas Jaukovic may pose the biggest threats. Both know how to score goals.

Comment: Darren Salton was disappointed at the team's performance at Grantham. "We could have lost by much more after the first half, but we were still in with a shout in the second half amazingly." Ken Gillard added: "Our first half performance was poor, possibly the worst we've played all season."
