Kerry Dixon leaves Hitchin

Thursday, December 2 2004

Hitchin Town wishes to announce that manager Kerry Dixon has left the club by mutual consent.

The club has reached this decision on the basis of financial reasons and wishes to thank Dixon for his contributions at the club over the past 18 months. Dixon
took over as manager in December 2003.

Hitchin Town Managing Director, Andy Melvin said: "Kerry is an excellent coach and has oceans of experience. But as a club, our financial position didn't allow us to make it worthwhile for him to give up his media commitments in order to devote more time to the club. It is a shame that were unable to find a workable solution, but we have to face facts - it is currently difficult for us to attract people of Kerry's calibre."

Hitchin Town is currently talking to replacements for Dixon and will make a full statement about the club's situation and a new management team on Monday December 6.
