Free-scoring Chesham come to Top Field

Old Isthmian League rivals Chesham come to Hitchin on Saturday, with the Canaries hoping to gain revenge for a 3-1 defeat earlier this season.

Team news: Jim Duffy is expected to make his first appearance following his return to Hitchin. Aaron Cavill is missing owing to personal commitments, unrelated to the seven-day approach put in for him by Aylesbury United. Mark Bridge and Mark Smith have both shrugged off minor injuries.

Current form: Chesham lost last week against Hednesford, but they are capable of scoring goals- only Chippenham have scored more this season. Recent away wins include a 6-1 trouncing of Tiverton and they have also beaten Dunstable at home by 8-1 in recent months. Their form of late has been patchy, but they are in eighth place, just four points ahead of Hitchin in 14th position.

Last six: Hitchin L, W, L, L, L, W Chesham L, W, L, ,D, W, L

Men to watch: John Lawford has scored 26 times for Chesham this season and has rediscovered his form of old. Andre Scarlett, who had a brief spell with Hitchin in 2001-02, and former London Colney striker Gary Sippetts are both capable of scoring goals.

Comment: "We made silly mistakes against Aylesbury last week and gave ourselves a mountain to climb. We almost did it, but three goals by half-time really put Aylesbury in the driving seat. Our commitment was good, but we just have to stop making bad errors," said Assistant Manager Ken Gillard.
