Hitchin take on Southern League leaders Bath City on Saturday, a team that is riding the crest of a wave at the moment.
Bath have won nine of their last 10 games and have not lost since December. Hitchin beat Bath in early December at Twerton Park 2-1 but since then, John Relish’s side have been unstoppable and have gone eight points clear at the top of the table.
“Bath will be full of confidence and keen to extend their run even further,” said Canaries manager Darren Salton. “But we have beaten them once this season and on our day, we can beat anyone. This is a big game for us if we are to get back in the top five.”
Salton is full of admiration for Bath and the way they have put breathing space between themselves and their nearest competitors. “If any team goes on a run in this league it can make a huge difference. Bath’s current form should act as an inspiration to us – and we want to beat them.”
For the first time in weeks, Salton has a full strength squad to call on with no major injuries or suspensions to worry him.
