Suspension hit Hitchin look to end run

The weather put paid to Hitchin's fixture at Cirencester last Saturday, but the game has been hastily arranged for Saturday March 10, when both clubs had a blank day.

The Canaries go into this week’s game with Mangotsfield at Top Field with injury and suspension problems. No less than five Hitchin players are suspended for the game, including goalkeeper Rob Beckwith, defenders Mark Ducket and Ryan Frater, and striker Gavin Jaggard.

Hitchin have won just once in seven games in 2007 but manager Darren Salton remains confident his team can work its way through the current crisis: “We have not choice but to keep on working hard and doing things the way we did earlier in the season. We are still within shouting distance of the play-offs and I have the utmost faith in my players.”

After meeting similarly out-of-form Mangotsfield, Hitchin travel to Hemel Hempstead on Tuesday night, kick off 7.45pm, in the semi-final of the Herts Charity Cup.
