Hitchin bid to end their nightmare run at Cirencester on Saturday, a meeting of two teams who have suffered at the hands of resurgent Cheshunt in the past week.
Cirencester were beaten 4-0 at Cheshunt last Saturday and their form in 2007 has almost rivalled Hitchin’s. They are 16th in the BGB Premier with the Canaries in 10th position. "We don't find it easy against Cirencester, so take notice of their recent results - this game will be harder than ever for us given our current run," says Hitchin manager Darren Salton.
Talk has shifted from play-offs to relegation avoidance in recent weeks among the sceptics, but Salton believes his team can regain their pre-Christmas form. “We have missed Daniel French who has created so much for us and now we have Josh Sozzo out aswell. Things have not gone our way and the Cheshunt game was a case in point. We know what we are capable of, so we have to keep fighting through.”
Hitchin won 7-0 at Cirencester last season in the Errea Cup, but in two league meetings at the Corinium Stadium have lost both times.
