Ryan Frater picked up two awards at Hitchin's annual presentation night, underlining the remarkable comeback of a player who had been written off two years earlier.
Frater was named Manager's Player and Players' Player of the 2006-07 season. Manager Darren Salton explained that Frater had wanted to return to the club after being away for more than two years, he had been told to return when he was fitter. "He has been tremendous," insisted Salton. Frater, in turn, thanked the club for giving him the chance to return.
David Deeney was named Hitchin Supporters' Club player of the year, denying Frater a unique hat-trick.
Terry Barratt's Clubman of the Year awards year went to two stalwarts: Connie Blackburn who works tirelessly providing matchday hospitality; and Nick Sopowski who combines his role in the physio team with his role as webmaster, amongst other things. "The club is not just about players," said Terry Barratt. "There are many people who work beind the scenes."
The evening was attended by around 70 people.
