Hitchin, still without a point after two games, play host to Chippenham Town on Saturday in another tough encounter for Darren Salton’s side.
Chippenham have drawn both their league games so far. They have a much-changed side after a glut of close-season signings. After missing out on promotion for two consecutive years, manager Darren Perrin is hoping for third time lucky.
Hitchin have played well in both games, especially the 0-1 home defeat at the hands of Kings Lynn, but have won more friends than points. “We could not have asked for more on Tuesday night,” says Assistant Manager Ken Gillard. “We played well, created chances and were rarely troubled at the back. It’s such a shame.”
The Canaries are still suffering from from a glut of injuries. Paul Taylor will miss the game through illness, James Taylor has also been ruled out. Scott Cretton picked up a hamstring injury against Kings Lynn and is doubtful. Gavin Jaggard, Carl Williams and Grant Carney are all injured.
Last season both games with Chippenham ended in draws and were amongst the best of the entire campaign.
