Buoyant Hitchin face pacesetting Banbury

Monday, August 28 2006

Hitchin’s tough start to the season continues today (Monday) when the Canaries travel to Banbury United.

Banbury, tipped by many to win the title this season, having started the season in fine form. After winning their first two games, they drew at Yate on Saturday but are nicely placed after three games.

Puritans’ manager Kevin Brock has strengthened his team by luring former striker Howard Forinton back to the Spencer Stadium. Forinton has got off the mark this season, so too has his striking partner Andy Baird.

But Hitchin go into this game with their confidence renewed after beating Chippenham on Saturday.
None of the Canaries’ absentees from the 3-2 win are likely to return for the trip to Banbury.

Previous meetings:
2004-05: Banbury United 2 Hitchin Town 1
2005-06: Banbury United 2 Hitchin Town 2

Hitchin supporters intending to travel to Banbury today should note that the usual access to the Stadium via the railway station may be blocked. If so, diversions will be in place – follow the signs for the Tramway Road industrial estate.
