Friday, March 18 2005

The Canaries will be out to avenge a 3-1 defeat at Cirencester just a few weeks ago. While Hitchin will be looking for the points that help secure their Southern League place, Cirencester are clinging onto hopes of a play-off place.

Team news: James Ayres and James Kidd are both suspended, and there are still injury doubts about Mark Smith (shoulder), Lee McCulloch (hamstring),Iuean Lewis (back) and Chris McMenamin (head injury).

Men to watch: Gareth Hopkins is Cirencester’s leading scorer with eight goals, but players like Darren Robison, Jody Bevan and Scott Griffin are all capable of finding the net.

Current form: Hitchin’s defeat at Banbury was their seventh in their last 10 games. Cirencester are unbeaten in their last three games after losing four on the trot . Prior to that, Cirencester beat the Canaries 3-1.

Last six: Hitchin L, D, L, W, L, L Cirencester D, W, W, L, L, L

Comment: “At half-time last Saturday, I thought we would go on to beat Banbury. But we gave away a bad goal, which sums up our season,”- Darren Salton.
