Hitchin manager Darren Salton told supporters he is happy with the team he has this season and all it lacks is a goalscorer in the mould of Chris Dillon.
At the latest Supporters Trust forum, Salton said: “We have a young team that is relatively inexperienced and sometimes they may lack self belief but they work hard and the players’ attitude is refreshing.”
Salton said the team spirit at the club is the best he has known and that his players are fitter than last season.
Salton felt players like Shane Hill and Wayne Mills had made a difference to the team. Ryan Frater was, according to Salton, “standing head and shoulders above everyone” at the club. “He is outstanding and has often played through injury- he sets a great example.”
Salton admitted the team played with more flair last season, but overall the team was tighter and more industrious. He was also pleased with the players’ ability to withstand physical opponents, pointing to the recent FA Cup tie at Harrow.
