Low confidence derby at Sutton

Monday, October 13 2003

Hitchin have a Herts Senior Cup tie with Broxbourne Borough on Tuesday night, and travel to Sutton next Saturday.

The game on Tuesday gives manager Robbie O'Keefe the chance to experiment, but the meeting with Sutton, a side that have been struggling recently, is a another tough task. "Right now, every game is a hard one for us, but they have been having a rough time, so we shouldn't be overawed by a trip to Gander Green Lane," said O'Keefe.

Sutton are just above the Canaries in the league, but have won just twice at home. They have not won for six league and cup games and like Hitchin, went out of the FA Cup at the second qualifying round stage. "This is one of the clubs we know a lot about," adds O'Keefe. "They have some good players, but they are low on confidence at the moment."

Hitchin's next home game in the Ryman League is on Tuesday, October 21 when Thurrock visit Top Field, kick off 7.30pm.
