Monday, May 10 2004

Hitchin Town's 40-year stint in the Isthmian League came to an end yesterday when they were placed in the Southern League under the long-awaited non-league restructuring.

The Canaries will have 19 new names on their fixture list next season, with 18 first-time league meetings. Amongst the list will be 10 first ever meetings: Bath, Chippenham, Cirencester, Gloucester, Hednesford, Histon, Solihull, Stamford, Team Bath and Tiverton.

Some names are familiar owing to cup games over the years, notably Grantham, Halesowen, Kings Lynn, Merthyr and Rugby.
