Fingers crossed as Canaries aim for happy Bath time

Weather permitting, Hitchin hope to complete their first home game of the new year when they face Team Bath at Top Field.

A working party is expected to attempt to make the pitch playable – no games have been completed since the Boxing Day draw with Hemel Hempstead.

After losing 5-1 at Merthyr, Hitchin manager Darren Salton is hoping his team can bounce back in style against the students of Team Bath. “We have to hold our hands up sometimes and say we were beaten by a better team and against Merthyr that was clearly the case.”

Hitchin’s promotion bid remains intact, however, and a win against Team Bath will banish the disappointment of Merthyr to memory. But Hitchin will be without Carl Williams, who is suspended. Liam Folds, sorely missed at Merthyr, returns to the side.
