Crisis club Chippenham play host to Canaries

Hitchin will face a club in deep crisis when they travel to Chippenham Town tomorrow. Chippenham were trounced 5-0 at Banbury in midweek and in the aftermath of that game, have suspended manager Darren Perrin.

Chairman Sandie Webb is away on holiday at present. Chippenham Secretary Chris Blake said in the local media that “we have a number of issues which we are not happy about”.

Perrin’s suspension comes after the Bluebirds’ manager has seen his wage bill slashed this season and a number of players released from the club.

Canaries manager Darren Salton is keen for his team to kick-start 2007 after two consecutive defeats. “We have played badly for the past two games but we have not suddenly become a bad team. Overall, I am happy with my players and our ambitions have not been thwarted by the last two games.”

Hitchin have a good record at Hardenhuish. In the past two seasons they have won and drawn at Chippenham.
