Sizzling Sozzo departs on high note

Monday, May 22 2006

JOSH Sozzo won all the major awards at Hitchin Town’s annual presentation night, his last engagement before leaving for St.Albans City.

Sozzo was named Supporters Club player of the year, Manager’s player of the year and Players’ player of the year. The Southern League’s leading scorer made an emotional farewell to the club as he received the awards. "This has been the best period of my career and I have really enjoyed being at Hitchin - perhaps I will be back one day," he said.

Sozzo’s successor as Hitchin captain, Liam Folds, was introduced to the audience by manager Darren Salton, who emphasised that he was looking to reach the play-offs next season.

Chairman Terry Barratt named two people as his clubmen of the year: Fred Andrews and Josh Silver.
