Errea Cup finalists Hitchin travel to Evesham for the first time on Saturday, keen to build on a successful week in which the Canaries have drawn and beaten two promotion candidates.
Manager Darren Salton is delighted at Hitchin reaching the Southern League Cup final. “If we can end the season with some silverware it will be terrific,” he says. “We want to do this for the fans, who have really played their part this season – but the two games with Bromsgrove will be a real challenge.”
Meanwhile, Salton wants Hitchin to finish as high as possible in the league. “Last week we performed well at Chippenham and showed once more that we can match the top sides in the division.”
Evesham are one place off the bottom of the Premier Division and have not won for 10 games. They have won just three times at home this season and recently dismissed manager David Busst. But they do have in their line up Richard Ball, who has netted 16 times. Ball returns tomorrow after missing some games.
Salton has a fully fit, suspension-free squad to choose from. Gavin Jaggard returns after missing four games.
