Ducks and Canaries to meet on ice?

Friday, February 25 2005

With a week of snow and sleet, Hitchin and Aylesbury United meet on what is sure to be a wintery afternoon at Top Field. Aylesbury are in sixth place, one point and 1 place off the play-offs. Hitchin are in 12th position.

Team news: Chris McMenamin and Shane Hill return to the squad, and Darren Salton is also waiting to hear if Iuean Lewis will be available. Lewis was recalled by Stevenage last week, but is expected to return. All other players are fit from last week's squad that beat Hednesford United.

Current form: Aylesbury have lost three of their last four games, including a 1-2 home defeat at the hands of Team Bath. They lost 2-1 at Dunstable last week. Hitchin's win at Hednesford ended a run of three straight defeats.

Last six: Hitchin W, L, L, L, W, L Aylesbury L, L, W, L, L, W

Men to watch: Gavin Jaggard is well known to Hitchin fans, but looks set to miss the game through suspension. Aylesbury have just let striker Leon Gutzmore go, so Paul Edgeworth, who has scored 11 goals this season, will be the marksman to watch.

Comment: "I hope the game is not a victim of the weather because the lads are really buzzing after beating Hednesford. They came back well after three defeats, taking on board everything that had been said to them," said Darren Salton.
