French departs, possibly to Stamford

Daniel French has played his last game for Hitchin Town, departing after Saturday's defeat at home to Banbury United.
French has become disenchanted with life at Top Field and had not been enjoying his football, sources close to the situation revealed.
Rumours abound that French, who joined the Canaries in August 2005, is joining his local club Stamford, who made an approach for the player last weekend.
“It’s shame that Daniel has left us but he has not been happy for a while and we only want players who have a desire to play for us. I need everyone to fight for the shirt at the moment in order for us to improve our position,” said manager Darren Salton. “We wish him well with his new club.”
