Tense Halesowen bring curtain down on season

Friday, April 27 2007

Halesowen Town, who have been pushed out of the top five of the BGB Premier Division by Maidenhead, provide Hitchin with their final game of the 2006-07 season.

Halesowen will be anxiously watching the game at Banbury and Hemel as they take on the Canaries, who can go into their final game completely relaxed.

Even a victory may not be enough for Halesowen, who have yet to beat Hitchin in a league game. Top Field officials are expecting a large travelling contingent as the Yeltz try and secure a play-off place.

Hitchin have rediscovered some form as the season ends, which although welcome, can also be a misleading sign. Three wins and a draw in four games have secured the Canaries Premier Division place and this should make for an entertaining game.

Manager Darren Salton has fond memories of Halesowen- it was against the Midlanders’ that he began his managerial career in December 2004. Since then, Hitchin have won once and drawn three times against Halesowen.
