After two wins in a week, Hitchin are brimming with confidence and hoping to extend their four-match unbeaten run when Aylesbury visit Top Field.
The Ducks have not won for five league games and tumbled out of the FA Cup last week. In midweek, they were beaten by Banbury who themselves were beaten 3-0 by Hitchin last week.
Aylesbury find goals hard to come by and have scored nine in 10 league games. Drew Roberts is their danger man and has scored almost half of Aylesbury’s output this season. Former Hitchin midfielder-cum-striker Gavin Jaggard is also likely to feature in this game.
Hitchin haven’t beaten Aylesbury at Top Field since 1999 and have won just once in seven meetings with the Ducks. Last season, Aylesbury completed the double over the Canaries, winning 4-1 at Hitchin and 4-3 on their own patch.
Canaries assistant manager Ken Gillard is pleased with the way the past few weeks have gone. “We’ve tightened up at the back, and the introduction of Leeyon Phelan has made a difference. We’re getting there.”
