Two cup games in a week for Canaries
Saturday, November 5 2005
Hitchin’s week of cup-tie soccer gets underway on Tuesday night when Hemel Hempstead arrive at Top Field in the Herts Senior Cup.
The Canaries will need no reminding that the last time Hemel played at Hitchin, they won 4-1 with Hemel danger man Grant Carney scoring twice.
Hemel have come to terms with relegation from the Southern League Premier and are now riding high in Division One West. Hitchin will come up against their former midfielder Darren Sarll, who recently joined Hemel.
On Saturday, Hitchin and Bedford come face to face next Saturday in the FA Trophy in a game that should attract the biggest crowd of the season to Top Field.
Both teams have players who have appeared for both clubs, notably Hitchin’s Josh Sozzo and Bedford’s Chris Dillon, two strikers who will have a big say in the outcome.
Bedford were beaten 5-2 at Rugby Town on Saturday.
