Directions to Top Field in Hitchin

The iconic Top Field has been the home ground of Hitching Town F.C. for well over 150 years. It is located on Fishponds Road (A505) near to Hitchin Swimming Pool, right at the edge of town centre.

By Car

Top Field is located about 43 miles north of London. If you’re taking the M1, take exit 10, and follow the A1081 and A505 to Hitchin. Once you’ve arrived at Hitchin, take a left at the roundabout at Upper Tilehouse Street. Just go along A505/Bedford Road until you reach another roundabout. This time, take a left into Fishponds Road. Top Field is located on the left, about 70 yards from the roundabout.

If you’re taking the A1, take the A602 exit at Stevenage. Once you’ve reached the Park Way roundabout, go straight along the Old Park Road until you reach Bedford Road. Thereafter, take a right at the next roundabout. You can see Top Field on the left from there.

Driving time is around 80 minutes, but it could go up to 90 minutes during the weekends.

By train

Hitchin Railway Station (Stop E) is on the Peterborough and King’s Cross to Cambridge lines, so trains are available in intervals of between half an hour and fifty five minutes. Take bus number 81 (Westmill Estate) from the station and get off at Fishponds Road – there’s a bus stop right in front of Top Field.
