Ladies to be admitted free today

Saturday, March 13 2010

Hitchin Town are providing free admission to all ladies today when they face Stourport Swifts at Top Field.

Free admission will be granted to ladies of all ages in a bid to encourage more women to come to games. This forms part of a wider initiative to nurture a family atmosphere at the club. As well as reaching out to ladies, Hitchin Town is encouraging youngsters and minority groups to attend games at Top Field.

So far, the club has had a positive response to the ladies day initiative. Barratt adds: “We have shown we are prepared to welcome fresh ideas at the club – our Supporters Trust has been much admired around non-league football, to the extent that others have tried to copy it. We hope that more clubs will follow our lead in broadening the appeal of non-league football.”

Hitchin fans will have the chance to buy a unique "pink canary" badge, the badge will cost the recommended donation of £5 with proceeds going to a local cancer charity.
