Hitchin Town fans are being encouraged to bring their wives, girlfriends and other lady friends to Top Field for a ground-breaking "Ladies day" event on Saturday March 13 (Kick off 3pm).
The Canaries are offering free admission to all females for their game against Stourport Swifts. And this unique occasion starts with throwing the offer open to the "other halves" of Top Field regulars.
Hitchin Town chairman Terry Barratt says: "We are only too aware of the male-orientated environment of football grounds and we want to change that at Hitchin. Only by embracing all sectors of the community will we achieve our goal of being a genuine community club. We want all ladies to come to Hitchin and be part of the Top Field scene. That starts in earnest with our ladies day."
It's not the first time that Hitchin have encouraged the ladies of the town to come to the ground. In the early 1930s, the match programme urged regulars to "bring her along"!.
More details will be released on the event, but there will also be a one-off opportunity to purchase a limited edition "Pink Canary" badge, with proceeds going to charity.
