Hitchin have signed striker Jeff Hammond on for 2009-10 as manager Colin Payne starts to assemble his squad.
Hammond, who netted 10 goals in 15 games last season, making him a big favourite with the crowd, will play an important part in the Canaries’ season in the Southern League Midland Division.
Payne is delighted to tie-down the diminutive striker. “Jeff did very well for us and I just know he will get a lot of goals for us next season. He is pivotal in my plans and his signing will make a lot of people happy,” he says.
Jeff Hammond joined Hitchin in February 2009 from Enfield Town and made an instant impact in the team. He made his debut on February 17 2009 at home to Corby Town and netted his first goal on February 28 against Merthyr Tydfil. This sparked off an impressive run where he scored 10 goals in nine games, including a four-goal haul at Swindon Supermarine on April 1. Hammond’s previous clubs include Enfield, Enfield Town, Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Hornchurch and Ilford.
