Another convincing win for the Harriers saw them move to within one win of the title. Like the Hawks, they took time to adjust to an evening kick-off and it was Shefford who started the stronger, putting the Harriers goal under pressure but this was defended well by Danny and Finley. Finally the Harriers got into their stride and started to pass the ball around neatly which led to a number of corners taken by Joe, which were cleared by Shefford. From an attack, Juan shot through a crowded penalty area but Joe couldn’t quite turn it in and then Matthew had a shot, which was cleared off the line by a defender. Joe then picked the ball up just outside the penalty area and eluded 2 defenders before passing the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net (0-1). Shefford tried to get back into the game and had a very sprightly attacker but came up against Danny who wasn’t giving anything away and any long range shots were comfortably saved by Ali. A great shot from Zac saw the keeper parry the ball and he recovered just in time to stop the ball from creeping over the line. Then, Zac headed a Joe corner just wide before Joe hit the post from an acute angle. Just before half time Zac crossed the ball to Juan whose shot made it (0-2).
Daniel and Alfie came on at half time but it was Shefford who started the 2nd half desperately looking for a goal to get them back in the game. After a few minutes, the Harriers started to dominate again. Alfie and the midfield trio of Juan, Joe and Daniel started to combine well and were opening up Shefford with every attack. From one attack, Shefford cleared the ball but it fell to Finley who hit a superb shot over everyone and into the goal from distance (0-3). The Harriers were in control of the game and with their neat passing had Shefford chasing shadows. Juan then had a shot from a corner, which went just over the crossbar. Then a cross from Daniel saw Alfie run onto it and place the ball into the corner of the goal (0-4). A quick throw in from Daniel back to Finley was passed to Juan who slotted the ball home (0-5). Another attack this time down the middle saw Daniel pass the ball through to Alfie who neatly passed the ball around the keeper and into the goal (0-6).
Another excellent performance from the Harriers saw them maintain top spot and with 1 game to go the title is in their grasp. A win in their final game against other title contenders Bishops Stortford would see the Harriers claim the title.
