The Harriers started their game well and seemed to be getting settled. An early push forward saw Matthew with a shot which was just wide of the right post. However Stevenage countered this with a run down the right wing resulting in a powerful shot on goal. Ryan got to the ball and looked to have save it, unfortunately the ball bobbled out of his control into the back of the net to make it [0-1].
The Harriers did not give up and were soon attacking the Stevenage goal once again. Tom made a great cross into the box which Elliot just managed to get his foot to by stretching forward, but couldn’t put any power or accuracy on the shot. Stevenage responded again and managed to force a corner, the corner was well struck but the ball was headed over the bar.
As Stevenage continued to attach the Harriers goal it appeared that Ryan had coated his goalie gloves in butter prior to the game as he struggled to retain the ball. The Harriers once again pushed forward this time with Zak running through the centre of midfield, he passed to Joe who passed to Elliot whose shot was just wide of the mark.
As the second half got underway the Harriers were the first to break with Joe from the kick off running through the Stevenage defence, his shot was just wide of the right post however. Again there followed a period of end to end play where frankly there was literally nothing to write about.
Joe had a good run down the right wing and managed to force a corner for the Harriers. The resulting corner found Tom who had a shot which was just over the bar. Stevenage managed to get a free kick in a dangerous position but the shot on goal was well cleared by Ryan. There were a few more attacks by the Harriers with Tom and Matthew linking up well but the equalising goal remained elusive.
It was a disappointing result for the Harriers who played well and managed to create space against a very strong side but couldn’t quite get the finish needed. Unlucky lads!
